Use It or Lose It Permitting

When seasonal residents return to Lely Resort next year, they will see some major changes around the community. There will be a new neighborhood underway off Wildflower Way (more on that later) and the newly cleared commercial parcel south of the main entrance on 41 may have the beginnings of much needed shops and restaurants. Additionally, some land use permits are set to expire that will require the owners of the parcels to make some major progress towards the ultimate approved development plan. If these permits are allowed to expire, the entire permitting process would start over at a substantial expense to the owners. I would consider this ‘use it or lose it permitting’. The first good thing Lely Resort residents may get from this makeover will be the expanded parking area for The Players Club & Spa and its future expansion. Changes may also be seen on at least two additional commercial parcels that will bring a new feel to Lely Resort.
